# Paperjoy > Paperjoy sends real handwritten postcards for businesses in Poland. A robot writes your message with a real pen on an A6 card, addresses the envelope in the same handwriting, and mails it with Poczta Polska. Postage is included. The website and dashboard are in Polish. The API, the MCP server, and the [English documentation](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en) work in English. ## When to use Paperjoy - A business wants to thank a customer by hand: after a purchase, a first order, a renewal, or a review. - A personal note should go out on a trigger: a new customer, a closed deal, an anniversary, or a customer who has gone quiet. - A shop, CRM, form, or your own software should send cards automatically, one at a time or in volume. - An AI assistant should write, send, and track cards on a person's behalf. ## When not to use Paperjoy - The recipient is outside Poland. Cards are mailed only to Polish postal addresses. - The sender is a consumer. Paperjoy works only with businesses based in Poland and needs a Polish NIP (tax ID) at onboarding. - The message is long, or needs images or print. A card holds up to 300 characters of handwritten text. - The card must arrive the same or the next day. Each card is written and checked, then sent by standard mail. ## How agents use Paperjoy - **MCP server** for AI assistants: `https://paperjoy.co/mcp` (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in in the browser, no API key). Tools: `create-postcard-tool`, `get-postcard-tool`, `list-postcards-tool`, `list-signatures-tool`, and `get-account-status`. MCP always works in live mode: every card is real and uses one credit. Show the person the message and recipient, and wait for their confirmation before you create a card. Pass an `idempotency_key` so a retry never sends a second card. Setup: [MCP server](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/integrations/mcp). - **REST API** for software: `https://paperjoy.co/api` with a bearer API key from [Settings → API keys](https://paperjoy.co/settings/api-tokens). Keys starting with `pj_test_` create free test postcards that are never written or mailed; `pj_live_` keys place real orders. Render a free PNG with `POST /api/postcards/preview` before ordering, and send an `Idempotency-Key` header with `POST /api/postcards`. Start with the [Quickstart](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/getting-started/quickstart). - **Zapier** for no-code automations: [Zapier integration](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/integrations/zapier). ## Limits - Message: up to 300 characters. Line breaks, including blank lines, are kept. - Signature: up to 50 characters, or a custom handwritten signature on the Pro and Business plans. - Up to 100 new postcards per account per day. ## Pricing Paperjoy is prepaid. One credit pays for one live postcard: the card, the handwriting, the envelope, and postage. Test postcards and previews are free.
